The Grant VortexAir won Best Renewable Product at the Architects Choice Awards 2016.
We received a double boost by winning the Innovative Product of the Year title alongside the Best Marketing Campaign at the recent Pluming and Heating Awards 2016.
The VortexAir boiler, which is one of the most energy-efficient boilers on the market, was named the Innovative Product of the Year in a highly competitive category, while the campaign ‘Think Boilers, Think Grant’ was named as the Best Manufacturing campaign.
Judges comments… ” The judges acknowledge GRANT’s innovation in being the first manufacturer to come to market with this product.”
The Grant VortexAir is a revolutionary new product from our in-house design team, and is a combination of the award-winning Grant Vortex condensing oil boiler with its latest in ‘blue flame’ technology, and the A++ Aerona inverter driven heat pump. This hybrid product allows the householder to benefit from the two most cost-effective forms of fuel – oil and heat pump – to ensure that they will never be without heat. The innovative design also offers the householder the best of renewable heating technology on one side and the Grant Vortex Blue Flame boiler on the other.
We developed the product after recognising that there was a gap in the market for a renewable energy heating system with the trusted attributes of the Grant Vortex condensing oil boiler to meet the growing demand from off-gas customers, and the industry call for cleaner heating solutions. Customers can purchase the new VortexAir from this summer, through all key plumbing and heating merchants.
The effective ‘Think Boilers, Think Grant’ campaign incorporated a fully integrated advertising campaign covering print, radio, television and online adverts alongside Grant’s first ever TV advert. This has all helped to further cement Grant’s place as a market leader with home-owners.
We had a very successful three days at the Ploughing Championships and would like to thank all who visited our stand, for the huge interest and warm welcome we received from the record number of crowds at the show.
We look forward to seeing you again next year in Ratheniska.
Stephen Grant recognised for almost four decades of innovation in plumbing and heating industry.
Founder of Grant Engineering, one of Ireland and the UK’s leading heat engineering specialists, Stephen Grant has been recognised for his commitment to innovation, performance and precision at a prestigious industry event in Belfast.
Grant, who founded the company in 1978, accepted the biggest award for an individual who has achieved and contributed to the plumbing and heating industry at a glittering ceremony in the Hilton Hotel Belfast.
The Plumbing and Heating Awards are one of the highlights of the industry calendar and Stephen Grant’s dedication and commitment to driving forward the development of sustainable solutions for installers and households, was just one of the reasons the judges felt Stephen was the most worthy winner.
Commenting on the award the judges said,
“Stephen has demonstrated an ability to not only adapt and respond to customer demand but to be one step in front and focused on the dynamics of changing energy needs and a growing emphasis on the environment.”
Grant design and manufacture reliable heating products award winning oil-fired condensing boilers and the latest renewable products. With a reputation for quality that is second to none, all their products are designed to deliver market leading durability and efficiency.
“The company continues to build on what is an enviable reputation within the heating industry by adapting and developing products that help to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. The judges particularly commend Stephen for succeeding in growing and building on the strong foundations of Grant Engineering in 1978 with continued investment and innovation.”
The company was also highly commended for their highly targeted and very proactive marketing campaign for the Grant Vortex Condensing Oil Boiler. The panel was impressed by the significant effort in developing and communicating the product’s features and benefits to both consumer and trade audiences. Alongside traditional advertising and PR, the commercially successful campaign went the extra mile with installer evenings that maximised exposure for the product.
Commenting on the recognition, Stephen Grant said,
“It is an honour to be recognised by my peers in the industry and my passion for the industry has not waned since I started out almost 40 years ago. I must say that the company would not be the success it is today without the drive and passion that my team share with me for developing new and innovative technologies that are sustainable, high-performance and affordable alternatives for heating homes.”
In addition to producing some of the highest efficiency boilers available in Ireland, Grant is also known for its corporate social responsibility initiative with Soul of Haiti which began in 2007 when Stephen Grant visited the country as a finalist in the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ awards. As part of the initiative, 70 entrepreneurs and business leaders from Ireland travelled to Haiti to exercise their strategic expertise to help improve selected communities.
The charity, which empowers communities to create their own success now has eight projects to which Grant contributes including the installation of solar powered freezers to allow for storage of fish and creation of ice to enable fish to be transported to markets in other towns. Grant also participates in the Young Entrepreneur Programme, which works to support, promote and encourage entrepreneurship in young people by facilitating and delivering education programmes to primary schools.
Grant Engineering is set to add to its range of economical and environmentally friendly boilers later this year, with the launch of a new and more compact condensing biomass boiler – the Grant VECTA. This innovative product will incorporate proven Grant Vortex technology and offer up to 95% operating efficiency.
Grant Engineering have ceased production of non condensing boilers since the 31st of December 2013.
The installation of a condensing boiler is the norm and installers and consumers are well versed in the benefits of condensing technology. Due to OFTEC regulation and to assist the Government to meet its carbon reduction targets, all boiler manufacturers have collectively agreed to cease the production, sale and delivery of standard efficiency boilers from 31st December 2013.
It is in all our interests to see a move to a fully condensing market as these boilers offer consumers up to a 20% saving on annual fuel bills and significant reductions in CO2 emissions. Consumers benefitting from a condensing boiler today will enjoy increased thermal performance and financial savings for the foreseeable future.
The Grant EZ-Fit flue system is now compliant with the new CE standard for Flues, having put our EZ-Fit systems through rigorous product testing earlier this year.
From 1 July 2013, under the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (CPR), it will become mandatory for manufacturers to draw up a declaration of performance and apply CE (“Communauté Européenne/European Community) marking to any products which conform to the European Technical Assessment (ETA) issued. It will be illegal to sell any non CE marked products after this date.
Grant have been ahead of the game for some time, taking the initiative to adhere to the CE marking on, not just the flue products, but the whole Grant range. The process for testing is lengthy and complex, taking approximately six months, so is a big investment, both in time and money.
Managing Director, Stephen Grant, commented
“We have a very stringent policy where quality control is concerned and the conformity to legislation is paramount. Our products are manufactured to the highest standard and our adherence to regulations is just part of our daily routine. Customers rely on us to inform them of our continued quality conformance, and this provides them with simple visual validation.”

We have introduced a new range of flues for boilers into our product range to make installation of Grant Boilers quick, simple and to reduce cost while insuring trouble free operation even in the most exposed site conditions.
“Blue Flue” is our new single wall stainless steel flue. It can be used as extensions and elbows on our plume diverter kits. The plume diverter kits come in 1 meter and 2 meter kits in 80mm dia and 100mm dia. The Blue Flue is also compatible with all Grant Condensing Boiler House models when the flue has to pass through a non combustible material i.e. a concrete roof and there is an adequate permanent air supply.
“Red Flue” is our new stainless steel flexible balanced flue solution to nuisance plumbing and cold draughts. It is designed for Grant condensing boilers up to 26kw (90000btu) and allows an existing masonry chimney to be utilised rather than re-site the boilers and pipe work. It comes in lengths of 6,8,10 and 12 meters and extensions and elbows are available.
“Yellow system” – we have introduced a short low level flue kit that goes from 270mm-350mm and will help installations where a shorter flue pipe going out through the wall is required.

The Grant back boiler has been on the market for over 30 years and is still selling in significant numbers. This year in particular has shown a significant increase in sales of the product, we put a lot of this down to the current economic climate and how householders are trying to utilise as many options that are practical to cut down on energy bills and reduce heating costs, the main advantages to the Grant back boiler are:
- It is an inexpensive product
- Most homes have an open fire
- Burns a full range of solid fuels
- Heats up to 10 radiators
- Doesn’t require any servicing
Back boilers installed over 30 years ago are still in operation today.
As the old Irish proverb says ‘Nil aon tinteán mar do thinteáin fein’…..‘there is no hearth like your own hearth’
